THE MEDIA SUITE
The Media Suite is an online media studio that drives student engagement and creativity in the area of video creation for student movies, shows, and other content creation. Student projects can be featured on YMU TV or as a multimedia clip in The YMU Collective as well as other outlets.

Skills Students Learn
The Media Suite helps students develop technical skills, creativity, and critical thinking skills, as well as an understanding of visual storytelling and communication.

Storytelling
Students learn the basics of storytelling, including developing a plot, creating characters, and building suspense.
Technical Skills
Students learn how to edit video footage, add sound effects, and music, and create visual effects. They learn how to mix and edit audio tracks to enhance their videos.
Basic camera operation
Students learn how to properly hold and operate a camera, as well as how to adjust settings like focus and exposure.
Creativity
Students gain an understanding of how to create different types of videos, such as narrative films, documentaries, or promotional videos

Students participating in the Media Suite elective classes learn how to use editing software and gain an understanding of the principles of video editing, such as pacing, rhythm, and visual storytelling. They also learn how to work with various video formats, and practice editing techniques for different types of videos, such as interviews, music videos, and short films. By learning how to use audio and visual effects to enhance video projects, students can develop problem-solving skills to overcome technical challenges in the editing process. Additionally, students can practice collaboration and communication skills when working with their peers, and develop an eye for detail to ensure a polished final product.
